The History of Nukku Nook

Nukku Nook started its life as Nukku State School on the 28th of May 1928 and subsequently closed the doors to the last pupils on the 7th of July 1967.
The school was situated just over 4 miles north of Blackbutt on the D’Aguilar Highway in Queensland’s, South Burnett.
The School closed; the building was then re-located to Nanango, South Burnett where it was utilised as the Girl Guide Hut.

After many years the Nukku School was returned to its original district of Blackbutt in 2011.

Blackbutt’s local hero and Australia’s champion tennis player Roy Emerson, completed his primary school education at Nukku School.

The old school has settled quite comfortably by the head of the rail trail where the old railway station stood and is working its way to becoming a magnificent centre for Historical and Environmental Education.

The Nukku Nook amateur researchers and historians are eager to create a place for memories and public enjoyment.
