WALK the RAIL TRAIL

BENARKIN to LINVILLE

An excellent opportunity to walk the track with others, experience the quiet and beauty of the forest see wildlife and smell the fresh mountain air.

Blackbutt & District Tourism & Heritage Assoc. (BDTHA) members and friends enjoyed their inaugural "Walk the Rail Trail" on Sunday, August 3rd. They welcomed 47 walkers, ages ranging 30's through to the over 70's with everyone completing the almost 20 kilometres trip in around 3 to 4 hours, and still looking fresh. The many colonies of Bellbirds were loud and clear with some walkers seeing the bird for the first time. The wildlife was a tad scarce but the cattle along the track made up for it. Views of rainforest, scrub country and open pastures made for great photographs. A lunch break of sandwiches and fruit was held at MacNamarras Camp before heading on down the range to Linville for hot tea and cake, a most welcomed addition at the finish.

BDTHA have decided to hold more trails in the future and will keep you posted via this site or find us on Facebook - Blackbutt & District Tourism & Heritage
